I have been personally involved with the National Football League players association since my playing days in 1981. This organization has evolved from a predominately players union rights advocacy group to what is new a powerful volunteer community social projects effort. The specific group is called the Former Players Committee and is headed by Cal Snowden. Former Redskins great Brigg Owens has been a force in establishing government and community partnerships with the DC Chapter. Projects include housing for wounded war veterans, high school essay scholarships and concussions/depression evaluations for retired players. Many other initiatives are evolving. See my recent tweet for video of our "Redskins Legends Meet and Greet" at the American Tap Room, Arlington VA, June 18th, featuring former greats Ron McDole, Clearance Vaughn, Virgil Seay, Larry Brown, Pat Fisher and many others.
